Assignment
The Solutions Project asked us to help raise the thought leadership profile of the Rev. Leo Woodberry, an African-American environmental justice leader and pastor of the Kingdom Living Temple in Florence, S.C.
Results
Rev. Woodberry’s high-profile op-ed placements and media coverage caught the attention of members of Congress and 2020 presidential candidates. He was invited to testify at a key congressional hearing on climate change, and held a National Press Club press conference with Rep. A. Donald McEachin (D-VA), who went on to co-found the House of Representatives’ United for Climate and Environmental Justice Task Force. Rev. Woodberry also co-organized the first-ever Presidential Candidates’ Forum on Environmental Justice, featuring Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Sen. Cory Booker, and Tom Steyer.

Assignment
The UCLA Luskin Center for Innovation (LCI) wanted to raise its profile and highlight its world-class research and researchers. Story & Reach took LCI through a strategic communications planning and messaging process, and then worked with LCI to put the plan into action
Results
LCI saw a major increase in media coverage about its reports, strengthened its relationship with journalists, and secured op-ed placements that raised its profile as California’s premiere independent environmental research organization.

Assignment
The international Keeling Curve Prize for projects that address global warming wanted to grow its reputation as a prestigious and coveted climate prize. Story & Reach developed messaging and a plan for delivering it to potential applicants and the wider climate action community.
Results
Inside Philanthropy published an in-depth feature piece about the organization, and leading environmentalist Bill McKibben joined its board. Web traffic during the 2020 prize application period rose xxx%, and more than 300 companies and organizations from around the world entered the Keeling Curve Prize competition.
Social Media & Websites
Verbal, visual & video content
Due in part to our social media advertising campaign, the Keeling Curve Prize saw a X% increase in visits to its websites and received 50% more applications during the 2020 prize application period compared to the 2019 prize application period.
Maybe we saw something about being proud of our website as an example of the great website work we can do? We could use the #CleanEconomyGovernor site as an example, but I don’t think it’s all that impressive.

Teach activists attending the 2018 Creating a Climate for Change Conference to raise their communications game.

We trained activists on strategic communications planning and media relations best practices, from writing press materials to pitching reporters. One participant told us it was the most useful conference presentation he’d ever attended.
